Investment in forests and rural properties, as well as plantation companies
Forest Properties in Denmark
As of 31 December 2010, DDH owned either directly or indirectly some 24,261 ha of forest and rural properties in Denmark, of which 6,488 ha are owned directly. DDH owns 2,719 ha of forest and rural properties abroad as of 31 December 2010.
In collaboration with the Pen-Sam Group, DDH owns Skovselskabet Skov-Sam Holding ApS (50% shareholding) and Skovselskabet Skov-Sam II ApS (15% shareholding), which together make up one of Denmark’s leading private forest owners, with 7,248 ha of forest.
DDH’s own forests in Denmark were PEFC certified in 2009. Certification means that DDH undertakes to manage its forest in line with the criteria and guidelines that
are applicable to forest management based on economic, ecological and social conditions.

DDH has planted and owned forest since the foundation of the company more than 140 years ago, and it remains equally true today that there are many good reasons to plant trees and invest in the forest.
Wood is an eco-friendly material and a renewable resource, as well as being a CO2-neutral source of energy.
The forests are home to an extensive and valuable biodiversity and they make up a significant part of our countryside and recreational areas. In economic terms, the forest continues to represent a good, solid, long-term investment.
