We contribute to promoting interest in the natural sciences amongst children and young people

Naturvidenskabernes Hus

By awarding DKK 800,000 in 2009, DDH provided financial support to Naturvidenskabernes Hus in Bjerringbro. The objective of Naturvidenskabernes Hus is to promote teaching in natural sciences and technology throughout the primary and secondary school and college system.

The background for support is a pressing need – in DDH as well as in society as a whole – for considerably greater numbers of young people to enrol on courses of education in scientific and technical disciplines.

An important area of action is to enhance teaching in primary and secondary schools and on college courses in order to stimulate greater interest amongst young people in natural sciences and technology.

Applied technology curricula

In 2011 DDH will be providing DKK 500,000 for the implementation of applied technology curricula at Naturvidenskabernes Hus in order to make teaching more relevant to pupils and students.

Naturvidenskabernes Hus is working on a project aimed at developing 30 applied technology courses of study, a large part of which will be based on actual cases from actual business enterprises.

The aim of the new curricula is to reach 40,000 students per year. The students will learn about the technology of the business enterprises involved and use this as leverage to provide more interesting teaching of the natural sciences.
